Samaita-Maita Development Services
(SMDS) is a non-profit making
association and development agency
whose objectives are:
To initiate development at community
level with the active participation of
stakeholders
To promote agricultural production,
particularly in respect of niche market
crops among emerging farmers and
surrounding communities with the
mentorship of commercial farmers.
To build the capacity of farm workers
Products:
Essential oils, livestock production,
poultry products.
General agriculture, niche market crops
(incl mushrooms, snails, honey,
vegetables).
Our business objective is to establish,
in three phases, a sixty hectare
essential oils production facility, using
organic methods, involving at least four
plant varieties (Geranium, Chamomile,
Lemon Balm and Buchu or Lavender)
thus generating a net profit of at least
20% of sales from oils yields of not less
than 0.10% by the end of the fourth
